"Tel Aviv on Fire" Premiere in NYC

Friends of Mossawa is thrilled to invite you to the U.S. premiere of Tel Aviv on Fire, directed by Sameh Zoabi - a Palestinian citizen of Israel and member of Friends of Mossawa. The premiere will be followed by a Q&A with the director. The new release will also be premiered in LA, among other cities.

Tel Aviv on Fire is a delightful and refreshing comedy that follows Salam, a novice writer on a popular TV soap-opera. His career is on the rise when a chance encounter with an Israeli soldier creates huge problems for him. Salam finds himself caught in-between the soldier and the show’s backers – each of whom have very different ideas on how the show should end.

Sameh Zoabi was born in Iksal, a town near Nazareth, and graduated from Tel Aviv University with a double major in film and literature. Palestinian to the core, but also Israeli, each of his films (Man Without a Cell Phone and Under the Same Sun) have meditated on the challenges and contradictions inherent in this dual identity.

The film generated over a dozen nominations and won several awards at numerous film festivals worldwide, including winning Best Film at the Venice Film Festival where its star, Kais Nashef, also took the award for Best Actor.
